Blow Drying Made Easy

One of the most important factors of a great hair style besides being healthy, is your blow dry. Simple mistakes can make your hair difficult or even impossible to style.
If you keep your regular salon appointments, you may never have this problem. It is always easier when someone else is doing the blow drying for you.
If you find yourself needing to blow dry your own hair, follow these simple rules and you will be on your way to perfecting your blowout. Just remember that practice makes perfect.
You will need the following
  • A professional blow dryer
  • Clips
  • comb
  • comb attachment or paddle brush
  • Styling serum or leave in conditioner (heat protector)

1. Towel off your hair slightly, just enough to stop the dripping

2. Separate your hair into sections.

3. Start blow drying at the top/roots, about two inches away from your scalp.

4. Always direct  your air flow along the hair from roots to ends to ensure that the hair cuticles are sealed. Drying hair in opposite direction will cause the cuticle to appear rough. If you are using a comb attachment, make sure that you give the hair a slight pull as you blow dry each section.

5.Set your dryer to a medium heat and a high setting to prevent over drying your hair.

6. Leave your hair a little bit damp and Finish with a blast of cold air, to lock in shine.

Top 5 Questions To Ask Yourself When You Are Looking For A Hair Stylist

Finding a professional hair stylist that can meet your individual style and hair care needs can be difficult at times, even if you’re great at networking, but it's worth the time investment to locate the right one for your look and hair. Ask  yourself these five questions if you ever find yourself looking for a hairstylist.
  1. Do I like your style? One of the best ways to find a great stylist is by looking around you. Check out your friends or even people that you see in your daily travels. They may have a hairstyle that you like. Next time you see someone with a hairstyle that you like, stop her and ask her where she gets her hair styled. Most women will be flattered that you noticed and will always tell you who is styling their hair. You may want to get three to five referrals and give each salon a call for a consultation.
  2. Consultation -(A Must)! Once you find out the address and phone numbers to your potential stylists, call and set up your consultation. Some salons offer complementary consultation while others may charge a fee. make sure you find out salon policies before you confirm your consultation. A good stylist will not have any issues with meeting with prospective clients for a consultation.
  3. Time Management  When you are searching for a hairstylist, he or she should have great time management skills. Drop by the salon. Check out the vibe for yourself. Do the stylist look rushed or stressed? Is the salon organized? Make sure that your stylist does not over book appointments. This could become a problem if you are on a schedule of your own or you begin to worry about how long your visit will take. All of these things can take away from a relaxing salon experience.
  4. Hairstyle Maintenance  (How do I take care of this?)  When you pick out your hairstyle, make sure that it is something that you will be able to maintain. Whether it is a high or low maintenance style. Some trendy styles can be very high maintenance and can difficult to maintain in between visits. make sure you have a clear understanding  before you pick up your style. No matter what style you pick  your stylist should be able to give and explain your hair care regimen.
  5. Will I get the V.I.P treatment?  Every client should feel special every time they book an appointment. A great  stylist will recognize the value of each client and ensure great customer service by treating each customer with respect
These five rules should always be at the top of your list when looking for a hairstylist.

Breaking the Myth..... When should I get a trim?

It always amazes me when a client says to me that they don't want a trim when they need one oh so bad! Usually the reason is because they are trying to let their hair grow. What most people fail to realize is that the hair would grow faster when the hair received a trim on a regular basis.

On an average your hair grows about a half an inch per month. Hair that is not trimmed on a regular basis.will result in split ends scientifically known as trichoptilosis. There is no way to repair split ends; when they occur, the split part of the hair must be trimmed. Can you thread a needle if the thread is frayed? Of course not. Without regular trims the hair will begin to split up the hair shaft. Just think of each strand of hair like a piece of thread. You want to keep it smooth as possible.

I suggest that you trim your hair every six to eight weeks with a professional stylist. A good trim helps the hair maintain its style longer and tangles quickly.
