2011 Hair Style trends

For fashion savvy women in 2011, hair is all about revivals and evolution. With styles and colors we're seeing the best of 2010 reborn. Most of the trends for this year have been recycled from last year with an edgy twist. From long to short and a variety of colors, this is my top five list of 2011's best hair trends to follow. True, there is a unique undertone of a modernist style appearing, but take some of the most iconic styles of the 20th century, infuse them with quality, and you'll find the basis for the dominant styles of 2011.

Waved Bob
I love the Bob.It's classic and sleek. When most people think of bobs they think strait or lightly curled hair. Adding a waved effect to this hairstyle gives it all the elements of Old Hollywood with a modern twist.

Pixie Hair Cut
Mia Farrow and Twiggy made this hairstyle iconic in the sixties and now in 2011 you can see celebrities like Sienna Miller, Carey Mulligan and Emma Watson still make the Pixie look sleek. You can give this style versatility by adding spikes, color and hair accessories never hurt.

Bangs- Any Kind
I have always been a fan of bangs. This rather goes without saying: bangs are perfect for hair shoulder length or longer, particularly when hair is naturally straight or with a slight wave. Bangs with Fringes can easily have an sixties look, so if your not channeling  Brigitte Bardot, (you may want your hair too wavy) think about rocking a sleeker version of this style.

Pin ups and Knots
A messy bun can be worn for casual and elegant affairs. There is nothing sexier and more elegant than a simple up-do that focus on your neckline and brings a glamorous, yet effortless style to any appearance. From ballerina buns to soft chignons, knots and Pin ups will defiantly be a trend of 2011.

Color Trends
It's no secret that 2011 will be all about strong haircuts and colors. Give a modern edge to your look with innovative hair color. Drop the traditional hair color option and experiment with the latest color combo alternatives and techniques. Always consult your professional stylist for your best results.

Colored Tip Drips...I love it!

Tip Drip anyone? Drew Barrymore and Julia Roberts are just a few of the celebrities that are trying this look. This  80's look with an edgy twist is becoming more popular for people who want the look of blond highlights but don't want to have that line of separation where the colors begin to change.
Hairstylist may not like this post because you might not see your color client as much, unless she wants to re-touch her roots (if roots area has a different color than her natural hue).
I am not a big fan of telling my clients to try this at home. This look may look easy enough but chemicals should always be handles by a professional.  I do believe that education in hair care is a must. So even if you have to maintenance at home always consult with your haircare professional.
Don't just try this look on long hair...Shaunie O'neal rocks the short tips too! She keeps it sexy in the December issue of  Essence magazine in a sexy gold sequin dress.
If coloring your hair does not interest you, weave is always an alternative for those who change their hair often and those who need a test run of this fashion forward look.
Raven Simone graced the Wendy Williams show with this sleek center part in September. It complements her recent weight loss too.
Just a reminder if you do decide to try any of these looks at home, always make routine visits with a professional hairstylist to ensure proper hair care.

Healthy hair is a lifestyle.....
